Are You Cloning Yourself in Your Office?
Hiring people who are just like you seems like a logical thing to do. After all, they share your strengths. That’s a good thing, right? Yes, to a certain degree. The problem is... they also share your weaknesses!
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. If you only hire people who are exactly the same, you will find that your practice has some serious gaps in skills and capabilities.
A more diverse group of people will more likely be able to handle whatever situations arise in your practice. Too much of one type of personality in a small environment such as a pediatric dental office can be somewhat stifling... not to mention limiting. Actively seek out team members with the skills you and other personnel lack. When you build a well-rounded team, everybody wins—you, your staff and your practice!
